Hello, everyone!
I hope you are doing well.
The World Cup is upon us again. Although I hate the corruption of FIFA and the MAGA aspect of this edition, I am still drawn to it. I am writing this right after I finished watching the game between the Netherlands and Japan. Japan was quite a formidable team despite the physical disadvantage. The Dutch, on the other hand, seemed all too content with their one-goal advantage in the last quarter of the game. I hope Japan and Korea do well in the tournament. They are both solid teams.
It’s ridiculous to expand the World Cup to 48 teams. That’s one out of four countries of all the countries. And yet, India and China, two biggest populations, couldn’t make it. Forty percent of humanity did not make the cut. Think about that. Also I recommend everyone read about how FIFA handed the next world cup to the Saudis. The level of corruption is astounding.
That’s my rant about the world cup. I sent six rolls of film to my Hong Kong lab. Even though I am not a theist, I would pray to all the gods ever imagined up by humanity that the envelop would arrive safe and sound, and soon. Drop a coin into a wishing well for me if you’d like to help.
This week’s post was supposed to be last week’s. It was shots from around my neighbourhood. Here are the photos.
First off, some football goals.
A silhouette of a goal.
Baby goals.
Two goals. A clutch?
Another double.
Moving on, random things.
An arrow on the road.
Art?
Flower on a workout bench.
An old VW van.
Shadow on the wall.
Cherry tree.
Redundency.
A house on a church ground.
Sun over ruins.
Shadow of a church on an old tower.
Light and shadow.
Houses.
Dandelion in shadow.
That’s it for today. Thank you for stopping by. I hope you have a good week ahead of you! See you around!

Really nice set. Viva monochrome!
The World Cup is an enigma. Politics and money should stay out of it. 48 representative teams does seem excessive but it's a global and, supposedly, inclusive game. Every nation has the opportunity to be present. China and India should be able to produce teams capable of competing at the highest level. Maybe their population size works against them. Maybe their governments don't view football in the same way as they see participation in Olympics. I don't know the answer. My biggest gripe with the World Cup is the actions of the "Tangerine Toddler-In-Chief" and his sycophants. Holding the tournament across three countries and then making attendance and travel so ludicrously expensive doesn't make sense.
Very timely start to your series, as you intended! Nice set. 😃
