That does like a journey of epic proportions very much like an Odyssey to get home after seeing the film. Traffic sucks.
I am yet to see the film, but hoping to soon. And the right-wing whinging was excellent - did you hear that Musk wants to produce another version that is closer to the original text? Jokes on him.
Thanks, Sarah! The Dublin traffic is bad on good days. It was beyond ridiculous yesterday. I never broke 15km/h on the motorway.
The movie is worth watching. Also I saw the Musk news. I’m fully expecting some Nazi salute and white supremacy in his slop version. Can’t wait! After you’ve seen the film. I recommend a review by Emily Wilson for the London review of book. It’s one of the snobbiest and irritating things I’ve read in a long while.
Funnier still is that it isn’t that Musk wants to produce his own version, it’s that he wants his AI Grok to do so — and to make everyone white. (Imagine. Super cringe!!)
My wife and I are intending to see the film tomorrow. Frankly, who cares what a few Americans say about anything? I'm sure Nolan couldn't care less about their opinion. I've read a bit about the story. Personally, I couldn't give a stuff about whether it's forensically accurate (well, as accurate as a Greek myth from thousands of years ago can be....) even if the characters really did exist. I'm not after a history lesson - just entertainment.

Also, great shot of the pool boy

I’d read somewhere that Wilson was not happy with the film (think she’s the person who made a translation a few years ago).
Oh she wasn’t happy indeed. Here’s the link. https://www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v48/n14/emily-wilson/an-uncomplicated-man. This review has already inspired a parody from the Onion.
Thanks for the link!
Update - which I have just read and ouch! Wilson ain’t happy at all
the holier than thou tone of the whole piece is epic. Ouch!

I’m sure there’d be some nazi stuff in the Musk slop. Ugh!
