Dear Vicky: Blacks and Whites and All the Greys in-between
Hello, everyone!
I am checking in on you a bit late this week. There’s no particular reason, unless of course you consider laziness a reason.
Some of you might’ve known from a note I posted two days ago that I had found a photo book about 1870’s Hong Kong. It was published in 1970, and fittingly called Hong Kong 100 Years Ago. There were some fascinating photos. Through some digging, I found out that many, if not all, of the photos in the book were by a Scottish geographer named John Thomson. The photos look very good for something from over 150 years ago. New gears may be a little overrated. That said, I still want new cameras/lenses. I will post some photos from that book later.
Here’s a few more photos from Hong Kong shot on Rollei.
NOT BOTH!
Also the little note above the NO POOP AND PEE sign says that the shop has relocated after 30 years, likely from rising rent I guess.
A trio in front of a tea shop.
Causeway Bay MTR
Hong Kong has many snake restaurants, of which this is the most famous one. All of these snake restaurants have the same name format: 蛇王X, or Snake King xxx. If you visit Hong Kong and are open to exotic food, you know, try one of these.
A walker in the jungle.
A realtor on Elgin.
An umbrella repair shop that I’ve never seen open in 10 years. It drives me nuts.
I don’t think a caption is needed.
Sonic?
Lights, laundry, and shadows.
Pipes, mop, and a warning.
Lights, vents, laundry and shadows.
It’s a business, I think….
Reflection. You win a prize if you spot the lone diner.
There it is! Thank you for stopping by again. Enjoy your week! I’ll see you here again soon.

Cool series. Love the pipes and vents.
(Back at University, I lived in a small dorm and one time the oven was taken over for hours and hours by a couple of guys trying to make jerky. When asked what kind, we were told: rattlesnake. I took a pic of hunks of meat hanging from the bars of an oven rack. I didn’t taste any. Not sure where/how they obtained the meat…)
Love all of these, especially the pipes with the laundry
hanging next to it. Great!!
Thanks!
