Dear Vicky: In Silhouette
I am following up on yesterday’s post. It’s about silhouette. When shooting in Hong Kong, I often felt that the environment did most of the work for me. The subtropical clouds messing with the sun; skyscrapers carving and shaping lights, leaving pockets and patches here and there. And I am just an idiot with a camera.
Check out Fan Ho’s work if you are interested in seeing Hong Kong photographed in its full glory. He was a true master of lights. He was able to capture the ever fleeting moments in the most glamorous lights. I’ve seen his prints in person and I was blown away. He was also an adult film director, which, you know….
Anyway, photos.
Can these be called silhouettes? I don’t know. Maybe?
Does artificial light count?
Thanks for visiting! See you!

It's quite a strong style, but I like it; the very dark tones and high contrast do set a saturnine mood.
Beautiful photos! I love the last one the most.
