Dear Vicky: Last Stop, Mongkok
Hello, everyone! How’s your week going so far?
I started watching The Studio on Apple TV and I really want to see that fake Jonestown movie by Scorsese.
I don’t have much to ramble about today, so I will go straight into the photos.
This will be the last batch of photos from my Hong Kong trip. I shot 12 rolls of film and some on my digital camera. Through diligent procrastination and budgeting, I made two months worth of posts out of them. I was trying to give myself a pat on the back earlier and I pulled my shoulder muscle.
This last batch comes to you from Mongkok, the most Hong Kong place in Hong Kong. If you like Hong Kong cinema, you’ve probably seen a lot of Mongkok without knowing you did. During my hunt for surviving neon lights, I knew I had to go to Mongkok. I must admit, I was disheartened when I got there. Many of the neon signs that I’d known and loved were gone, so much so that, Sai Yeung Choi South Street, one of the most crowded streets in the centre of Mongkok was unrecognisable. I got lost for half an hour because I did not recognise the street, which I passed by four or five times during that short period. It was disorienting. I stayed in Mongkok for 3-ish hours trying to get what I could, and here is what I shot on Kodak 500T.

Neon sign of a Mahjong parlour, where one can choose to play by the Shenzhen rules.
Another mahjong parlour on Portland Street.
The same mahjong parlour as the last one, with a bright yellow Porsche.
Neon restaurant sign on Soy Street.
Neon sign of a night club.
A flurry of neon signs.
Night clubs.
Night club signs and South Korean tourists.
Signs and man
Two more night clubs and MTR entrance.
More mahjong parlour.
Walker flanked by Steak Expert signs.
I’ve posted this one in my last post, but I kinda like it here.

There it is, my last post from my recent Hong Kong trip. I have some other photos from the trip which may be posted in notes or what-have-you. I might also do a clip show post in the near future to wrap up the trip, but that’s about it. Thank you for taking the time to read my rambling and comment. I appreciate every bit of your support! See you soon!

It’s been very enjoyable, viewing all the scenes you captured!! I particularly liked the orange of those sleeping busses bathing in the neon.
I am with the Bard, the mini busses are great. Super tones in those! Nice to see. Shortage of neon…not so much. Thank you.
