Dear Vicky: You've Been on My Mind

Hello, again!

It’s been a busy couple of days. Since the last time I welcomed you here, I’ve had my birthday, which means I managed to stay alive for another 365 days. I’m at this age when a birthday is not as exciting as it is for a younger person, and it is also not as big an event for an older person. It’s just a day. Awkward.

This morning I saw the news about a hellish fire that broke out at one of Hong Kong’s housing estates. As I am typing, there have been 44 confirmed deaths, and over 270 people still unaccounted for. I hope these people are safe and sound in their homes waiting out this infernal. Seven residential high risers were engulfed in fire, a scene still rattles me. The fire started on the green mesh covering the scaffoldings around the buildings. Three people have been arrested in the early stages of the investigation.

It’s a sad day. But our dear old Vicky is a scrappy one, and I am sure she’ll pull through. I don’t have much to write about at this moment. Here’s a photo of our dear Vicky in her full glory.
