Here Comes the Sun

Here’s my first Beatles reference.

Lighting is the only thing that matters in photography, says no one. But we all know it’s important, especially in black and white photos.

I try my best to look for good lighting, and yet I am not very good at it. That’s why when it happens, it feels like hitting the jackpot. Without any monetary reward. And sometimes I have to spend money to print the photos because they are so rare. Oh the joy of photography!

Here’s a few photos where the sun does a lot of heavy lifting.

This is not exactly sunlight. It was around sunset and the man is looking east. He was illuminated by reflection from a nearby skyscraper. Maybe it’s the sun.

The man looks sad even though his face is in the shadow.

You can almost see her takeout lunch through the plastic bag.
