Japan
I went to the theatre and watched Ran, Akira Kurosawa’s reimagined King Lear set in Japan. It was a beautiful adaptation. I learnt years ago that I am too stupid to read Shakespeare, but this movie is a good testament to how great King Lear is. The cinematography was something to marvel at. There were moments during the movie when I thought to myself: this shot was gorgeous, or well, that’s a new way to frame such a shot. The movie was 2 hours and 43 minutes long, but it flew by. The only short coming to me was the sound. I am no audio expert, but it seems like due to the technical limitations of the time, the audio was not mixed perfectly. This was obvious during the many battle field scenes. The audio was jumpy between cuts, where you could almost hear the different set ups of the audio equipment. It was a minor distraction in an otherwise smooth flow. This movie was made to be watched on the big screen. I would’ve enjoyed it less had I watched it at home.
Anyway, in honour Ran, here’s a few more photos from Japan.
There it is! If you can catch the movie, I highly recommend it. Thanks for visiting me. See ya!

Dang. I must see this film. Lovely shots, Li!!!
I love that movie, only ever seen it at home, envious you got to see in in a theatre. Did you eat at Kamehameha? I would have absolutely eaten there on name alone.
