Kagoshima to Sakurajima, a Ferry Tale
Hello! Hello! Hello!
I’m back. I had two movie nights in a row. It was awesome. I watched the 2008 film Doubt on Friday, and Moneyball yesterday.
I have to say it’s hard to find a movie better cast than Doubt: Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Philip Seymour Hoffman(RIP), and Viola Davis. The scene between Streep, Adams and PSH is magnificently intense. Davis’s role as the mother would break the heart of titanium. Her line: “I’m late” burns in my brain.
Moneyball also has Philip Seymour Hoffman in it. What an actor! One of the best to have ever done it. One good thing about streaming movies at home is that I can stop it at anytime and nerd out about the movie, its cast and crew, and all the technical stuff. I find myself spending on average 10-20 minutes during each movie looking up things about it. The opening scene of Moneyball made me pause the movie and look up the DP: Wally Pfister, who also did the Dark Knight trilogy, and Inception and won an Oscar for it. There is some really gorgeous camera work in the movie.
I know you are not here for my lame film review. Honestly, why are you even here?
Today’s post is about a ferry ride between Kagoshima and Sakurajima. I might get this wrong, but I think Kagoshima is the southernmost point of Japan’s Kyushu Island, and Sakurajima is an active volcano off Kyushu, a short ferry ride from Kagoshima. You get the idea.
On the day my wife and I took the ferry to Sakurajima-literally translated to Cherry Blossom Island,- a storm was brewing off the coast, which added quite a bit of drama to our volcanic destination. Luckily, we were able to get back to the mainland before the downpour started.
Now on with the photos.
Look at that weather!
If you’ve seen my cat posts, you’ve probably seen this fella, but I think it’s important to include it here.
That’s it for today. I hope y’all had a decent weekend. We got a lot of rain on the Emerald Isle over the weekend, and rain will continue whole week next week. Great weathers! Just lovely!

Good deal, good stuff ;-)
I’m actually here for the film reviews, the pictures are just a bonus. 😏
