Lights of A Day
Hello! Hello! Hello!
I didn’t post yesterday because I got child duty. And today, I got my driver’s license, at long last. Now, I am back.
Last month, I joined 11 photographers in a project to document a day in the life of ourselves. It was started, organized, and put together by the inimitable Cedric. Thank you, sir!
The idea is to- as I understand it- anti AI, de-Instagramified photo documentation of normal life. Or boring photos, if I may say so.
I thought about my daily routine, and couldn’t think of how I’d do this. As the day approached, I decided to document the lights I see throughout a day. After all, what is photography if not the recording of light on different media. And I went with my Fujidigital. Between you and me, I don’t think Fuji should keep the word film in its name anymore.
So here’s what I got. And I will put a link to the web version of the photo book/zine put together by Cedric. There’s a lot of good stuff there. Even if you don’t like mine, check out the others’ work. There are many cats. Dogs, on the other hand, are criminally underrepresented.
On to the photos.
First light of the day on my curtain
.Pattern on the wall
Light on kitchen cabinets.
Light on my backyard fence.
Light I see on my grocery run.
The sun between showers.
Leaf and shadow of a fence
Sun and clouds
Lights seeping through leaves.
A group of trees.
Silhouette of a tree.
Light on a pharmacy
Light sculpture from the afternoon sun.
Light and house plant.
light on front porch.
Afternoon sun on the railing.
Lights and textures.
Eddie, the Elephant, my son’s sleeping buddy sitting on his dining chair waiting for the return of George.
Light, ladder and bricks.
On George’s post-dinner bike ride, we say goodbye to the last light of the day.
This is it. I’ve had a lot of fun doing this project.
You can read the whole zine here and you can find substack accounts of all who participated.
Thank you if you are still here! I will see you around!

I have to admit I felt a bit ashamed to have contributed just 6 photos to the project that Cedric initiated and managed so well, while most of my fellow participants really went out of their way, like you. These sunlit photos in your contrasty idiom are a wonderful testimony to the passing of a day in your life.
Love the post and that webzine… awesome.
