Movie Monday and Photos from A Strange Land
Hello y’all! Guess what? Movie Monday is back.
Wait! Don’t close this page just yet!
This past weekend, I watched Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Before you judge me, don’t. It’s definitely not the worst of the franchise. I was literally offended by the one filmed partially in Hong Kong. Transformers was one of the earliest western cartoons I got to watch back in my primary school days. Back then it was the coolest thing in the whole wide world, although my world at the time was about a 15 minutes’ walk radius centring my home. The reason that I watch the transformers franchise compulsively is nostalgia. We didn’t have much entertainment to speak of growing up in a China almost completely closed to the outside world. The movie was really meh, with a few decent moments. Not the worst time killer either. I will probably keep watching new Transformers movies in the future, why not?
Now, on to the real movie I watched. Paris, Texas by Wim Wenders. Since I watched Perfect Days-great movie, in case you haven’t seen it-, Paris, Texas has been on my list. And I watched it on Sunday. What a masterpiece of cinema! The cinematography is as good as any. As a person who photographs, I found myself jealous of almost every frame of the movie. The phone scene has to be one of the greatest duets of in the history of cinema. It quietly tears you to pieces. The saddest tragedy is always when everyone in it believes they are doing the best they can with the best intention.
Anyways, that’s more than a fair share of rambling. Paris, Texas is a road trip movie, which gets me to today’s photos, from a road trip in America, a country I’ve had weird feelings about since last November. I can’t really put my finger on it. It’s weird.
Back in 2017, my cousin and her husband hosted my wife and me in LA. And we took a road trip to see the Grand Canyon, and we stayed in Vegas. I didn’t take many photos, but we had a good time. Here are a few of them.
We needed some stretching.
It doesn’t get more American if it tries
.
The Canyon is pretty grand, as my friend Tracy once so wisely observed
That’s it for today! Thanks for visiting my little corner of the internet! May the week unfolds exactly as you hoped. Till next time!

But why would I unsubscribe?!
What a nice little collection from you that aren’t what we’re used to seeing, setting wise. Perfect Days is great but Paris, Texas is a top ten for me. Glad you liked it so much. I also grew up with the 80s Transformers, it was my favourite cartoon from back then, when the original animated movie came out, it absolutely destroyed me in the best way.
