Six Shots from Japan
Today we are revisiting an old friend, Japan. It’s been a while and I’d like another post about the country.
I’d never considered knowing Chinese an advantage for travelling in Japan, but it is. Even though I don’t know any Japanese, reading kanji characters on road signs etc helps a great deal navigating the country.
On to the photos.
The dog is a gentle giant, very friendly.
I’ve never got a definitive answer as to what’s happening in this photo. My guess is some sort of ritual to install the roof of a house. The almighty community, I am asking for your help. If you know what this is, please let me know. Thanks!
The autumn colours of Kyoto are stunning.
This was from my last trip to Japan post -pandemic. The deer in Nara were much aggressive and less polite. The pandemic and the lack of tourists clearly took a toll on these freeloaders. We bought a pack of the “deer cracker” and gave them to our 1-year-old. A deer came over and munched the whole pack off the hands of the boy, who had no idea what was happening. Anyway, good times!
That’s it for today! Thanks for reading. See ya!
