Hello and welcome back!
Yesterday, during my nightly run, I saw a little fox. We both stopped, on different sides of a fence and looked at each other. And then, we both moved on. This was the second time I’d run into a fox in Dublin. It was interesting.
Over the weekend I watched Michelangelo Antonioni’s 1966 movie Blow Up. It’s an interesting movie, but there are a few things I am not a fan of. First of all, the lead is a repugnant prick, and the first half of the movie is but to establish that one fact: the way he talks, walks, drives…. Everything about this guy is irritating. Secondly, the pacing of the movie feels off to me. Like I said the first half of the movie is mostly table setting. It does not get into the main plot until Hour 2. My main beef with the movie though, is how the guy holds his Nikon. Is that how people used to hold manual cameras, with fingers never touching the focus ring? I guess he could zone focus, but that won’t work during a studio session where most of the shots are closeups. Am I missing something, or do I get the whole camera thing wrong? The ending is kind of interesting, although-SPOILER ALERT- the murder is never solved, nor does anyone face any consequences resulting from it. The one thing that gives me hope, and something I will hold on to for a long time to come, is the Rolls Royce. If you are a repugnant person with a camera, you can afford a Rolls Royce. Isn’t that nice!
Anyway, that’s today’s share of useless rambling. Since I haven’t taken many photos lately, I dug through my catalogue and found a few shots from the streets I’ve been to.
There’s always one that’s get left out, Hong Kong.
On the steps of a church, Macau.
Either a meditation or a nap, Macau.
A hole-in-the-wall restaurant, Hong Kong.
User manual on how to use a phone on a selfie stick, Hong Kong.
Sweet potato and chestnut vendor, Hong Kong.
Separation, Hong Kong.
That’s it for today. I’ve always liked street photography, but I always suck at it. In my mind’s eye, I can see a fantastic photo book titled: The Shot I Wish I Had Taken. Pre-order, anyone?
Thanks for stopping by! Have a good week ahead! See you soon!

The David Hemmings character in Blow Up is reputedly based on David Bailey who is known to be a bit of a prick and he did once own a Rolls Royce.
Way too much fun to read this one! I do believe learning the ropes before getting on set is important. I have musician friends who get irritated when someone pretends badly. I don't play an instrument, so will ask out loud during a movie... "can he/she play?" When I get the silent treatment, I know that the answer is a definite 'no'. Your noticing the camera handling to me is in that category.
As for Bailey being a prick. As I understand it, he is an Eastender. He takes as well as he gives, but yeah, I have heard he is prickly.
Nice pics - really like the last one!
