Photos from My Trip to Chengdu, China
China, the PRC, the mainland, the country I was born and raised in but know very little about, embarrassingly little about. Naturally, I also don’t have many photos of the country. All I have are fragments-a few photos here and there during my short trips-of the country, mostly because photography only became a thing for me after I left the country. But here’s a few photos from Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan province, home to the giant pandas, and spicy food. I took these photos during a trip with a friend’s family in 2019, before COVID turned the world upside down.
There’s a lot to say about China, but it’s an interesting country that doesn’t interest me, so I am not gonna pretend to be an expert here and waste your time. These photos were chosen because they share a common theme: cellphones. You might need to look harder in some photos than others.
I don’t know who the character’s supposed to be, but still find this funny.
Well, duh!
The guy in the background is on his phone.
This is it for today! Chengdu is a great place for food, and to look at pandas. Which reminds me of a book title from George Carlin bit How to Fillet a Panda. I’d read it. See ya!

The first one makes me laugh because the two guys sat down are so indifferent, to you (sorry!) but also to the dude on the phone.
Oh and selfie sticks need to be banned.
Nice lighting on the selfie women
